Kirsten Legerlotz ist Professorin und Leiterin der Arbeitsgruppe Movement Biomechanics am Institut für Sportwissenschaft an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Nach einem Studium der Sportwissenschaften an der Deutschen Sporthochschule Köln und der Biologie an der Universität zu Köln promovierte sie 2006 am Institut für Biomechanik und Orthopädie an der Deutschen Sporthochschule Köln. Von 2007 bis 2013 forschte sie an Universitäten in Neuseeland (University of Auckland) und England (Queen Mary University of London & University of East Anglia) in den Fachbereichen Sport, Materialwissenschaften und Biologie über die Anpassung von Muskeln und Sehnen. Nach einem Exkurs in die Pharmaforschung (Novartis, Schweiz, 2013-2014) kehrte sie im Oktober 2014 an die Universität und nach Deutschland zurück. Ihre Forschungsinteressen konzentrieren sich dabei im weitesten Sinne auf die Untersuchung der Ursachen orthopädischer Sportverletzungen, deren Therapien, immunologische und hormonelle Einflüsse sowie die Möglichkeiten präventiver Einflussnahme.

 

Forschungsinteressen:

Die Forschungsinteressen konzentrieren sich im weitesten Sinne auf die Untersuchung muskuloskelettaler Anpassung im Zusammenhang mit biomechanischen, immunologischen und hormonellen Einflüssen.

Forschungsschwerpunkte sind dabei insbesondere:

(1) der Effekt neuroendokriner Prozesse auf muskuloskelettale Anpassung und Verletzungsrisiko

(2) Muskuloskelettale Pathologien sowie deren Verletzungsmechanismen, Diagnostik und Trainingstherapie

(3) Methoden der Leistungsdiagnostik.

 

Aktuelle Projekte:

Aktuell betreute Forschungsprojekte befassen sich dabei beispielsweise mit schwangerschaftsbedingten Muskel-, Sehnen- und Gleichgewichtsveränderungen, Einflüssen des Menstruationszyklus auf Propriozeption und posturale Kontrolle, Trainingstherapie bei chronischer Achillestendinopathie, Einflussfaktoren der Heilung von Achillessehnenrupturen, Diagnostik von Schulterbeschwerden bei Überkopfsportlern, Schulterbelastung und Verletzungsmechanismen im Handball und die Transferierung der Erkenntnisse auf die Schulterbelastung  beim Krafttraining (Bankdrücken). Darüber hinaus befassen sich einige Projekte mit Forschungsmethoden, sowohl im Zusammenhang mit in der Grundlagenforschung angewandten Methoden wie auch im Hinblick auf in der Leistungsdiagnostik genutzten Tests (z.B. spezifische Ausdauer- und Sprint und Sprung-Leistungsdiagnostik im Eishockey bzw. Wasserspringen). Kooperationspartner bei diesen Forschungsprojekten sind dabei insbesondere der Olympiastützpunkt Berlin und die Charité Berlin.
