Scientific monitoring of the DOSB-Program "Integration through Sport"
Project description
The program “Integration through Sport” (IdS) – coordinated by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) – can look back on more than 25 years of existence. The Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) and the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) fund the program that is implemented independently by federal and regional sports associations. In this way, IdS consults and supports sports clubs, their partners and local volunteers in their day-to-day integration routines looking at conceptual, strategic, and organizational issues.
The designated scientific monitoring of IdS takes up outcomes and impulses of earlier evaluations (2007, 2013). The theory-guided empirical endeavor pursues two central objectives: On the one hand it aims at reconstructing the program’s more than 25 years long socio-political and sport-political genesis in its organizational context retrospectively. On the other hand it intents to interpret future developments prospectively against the background of the dynamic political, economic, demographic, and social changes in Germany. In doing so the evaluation analyzes the program’s structures and major challenges for its future design. In this regard the scientific monitoring and evaluation project is an inventory of the program’s current state putting it in the context of more than two decades of project developments.
