Dr. Falk Mersmann receives special award of the Leibniz-Kolleg Potsdam

On the occasion of the Potsdam scientific lectures (Potsdamer Naturwissenschaftliche Vorträge) on the 16th of May 2019, Dr. Falk Mersmann was honoured with the special award for young scientists in Brandenburg and Berlin for his work on muscle-tendon plasticity and interaction by the Leibniz-Kolleg Potsdam.

Special award „Best experimental study award“ 2019

At the 11th annual meeting of the German Society of Biomechanics (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Biomechanik), Sebastian Bohm received the special award for the „Best experimental study“, granted by AMTI  (Advanced Management Technology Inc.), for his research on the "Operating length and velocity of the M. soleus during running (Bohm, S., Mersmann, F., Santuz, A., Arampatzis, A.)".

Forum Junge Spitzenforscher 2018 "Mobilität"

Alessandro Santuz and María Moreno Catalá, from the Institute of Sport Science, Department of Training and Movement Sciences, won a research grant of 10000 € in the finals of the Forum Junge Spitzenforscher competition. This year's event, organised by Stiftung Industrieforschung and Humboldt-Innovation, focused on mobility. Alessandro and María got the second prize with a talk on wearable devices for the improvement of movement coordination in health and pathology.

DGfB Young Investigator Award 2017

At the 10th annual meeting of the German Society of Biomechanics (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Biomechanik) that was held from the 29th to 31st of March 2017 in Hannover, Matthias Hösl was honoured with the Young Investigator Award for his talk "Effects of backward-downhill treadmill training versus manual static plantarflexor stretching on muscle-joint pathology and function in children with spastic Cerebral Palsy“ (M. Hösl, H. Böhm, J. Eck, L. Döderlein & A. Arampatzis).

Falk Mersmann was awarded the second place for his contribution „Imbalances of muscle and tendon adaptation increase the mechanical demand on the patellar tendon in youth athletes“ (F. Mersmann, S. Bohm, A. Schroll, R. Marzilger, A. Arampatzis).

Young Investigator Award of the ECSS 2017

For his presentation on "Challenging Locomotion: Stability and Modular Organization in Perturbed Running dissertation" Antonis Ekizos was granted the 5th price in the final of the Young Investigator Award at the annual congress of the European College of Sport Science.

VBKI Science Award 2015

For his cumulative dissertation „Human tendon adaptation in response to mechanical loading“ Sebastian Bohm received the VBKI Science Award 2015 of the Association of Berlin Merchants and Industrialists (Verein Berliner Kaufleute und Industrieller).

ESB Student Award 2015

With his presentation on the "Validation of a shape-based volume prediction method in thigh muscles" Falk Mersmann reached the third place in the Student Award final at the annual congress of the European Society of Biomechanics in Prague.

Special award „Best experimental study award“ 2015

At the 10th annual meeting of the German Society of Biomechanics (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Biomechanik) that was held from the 6th to the 8th of May 2015 in Bonn, Sebastian Bohm received the special award for the „Best experimental work“, granted by AMTI  (Advanced Management Technology Inc.), for his research on the "Plasticity of the Achilles tendon in repsonse to cyclic strain: Effect of rate and duration (Bohm, S., Mersmann, F., Tettke, M., Kraft, M., Arampatzis, A.)".

ESB Student Award 2013

With her presentation titled "Muscle strength but not balance ability is associated with dynamic stability performance in Parkinson's disease" María Moreno Catalá ranked amongst the four best presentations in the Student Award final at the annual congress of the European Society of Biomechanics in Patras.

Young Investigator Award of the ECSS 2010

At the international conference of the „European College of Sport Science 2010“ Stefanie Bierbaum received the 5th place for her presentation „Feedforward and feedback adaptational potential in dynamic stability during disturbed walking in the elderly“ in the final of the Young Investigator Award.

The associated study investigated the effect of age on predictive and feedback-based adaptation to gait perturbations and demonstrated that elderly individuals show deficits in the rate of reactive adaptation but generally high reactive and predictive adaptation potential.

Young Investigator Award at the International Conference of Sport Kinetics 2009

For his presentation titled "External forces during maximal acceleration in runners with different acceleration abilities" Florian Kugler received the Young Investigator Award at the International Conference of Sport Kinetics Kongress 2009 in Greece.
